Default '05 ram hemi 1500 rear diff issue

I know there are alot of topics on here about the rear diff spider clips braking.

Changed the oil in truck today and also serviced front and rear diffs.

The rear had a clip sitting in the bottom of the pumpkin broken in two pieces. From what I can see there is suppose to be 4 clips total in there. I'm missing one, other 3 are accounted for.

I have attached photos, truck is my daily driver and need to know if I'm good to go driving it for a day or two until I pick up another clip. Would appreciate the feedback.

Also if im missing anything let me know, but from what I saw theres 4 clips total.

Thanks in advance everyone.

is 1 of the 3 the one you found at the bottom? they are used to hold the lsd clutch pack during install and not really needed after that. hopefully it's not burried in the middle of the lsd...could come back to haunt you...

their not clips that you can just yank out, pretty sure from looking through a few schematics of the insides of the differential that they are sleeves with those butterfly clips at the end of either side.

the clutchpacks have tabs on every other plate which sit in the retaining clips/sleeves which i believe sit in the grooves you see on the carrier.

so to remove/replace them you have to drop the guts out of the pumpkin.

i ordered the clips today, going to pull the carrier out and replace the clips this weekend.

keeping my fingers crossed theres no damage once i get in there.

if all goes well it will be a $15.00 fix which is what I paid for the clips.

heck, if your gonna replace the clips, you should look for the lsd rebuild kit since you'll be taking it apart anyways...important, know the exact order you take the clutchpack out and replace it in the exact order... also, you do realize you have to pull the carrier in order to put the clips back in..

yea if i remember correctly remove retaining bolt for pinion shaft, remove pinion shaft, remove axle shaft c-clips, pull axle shaft out, back bearing preload off....

after that i should be able to pull the carrier out right?

as far as rebuilding the entire rear-end, im on a college budget right now so have to ride with a direct fix and get the most out of the stock setup.

im just thankful i'm mechanically inclined so that im even able to do this for just the 20.00 it costs for the clips.
