Default 94 tranny trouble

Im gettin a TCC solenoid code and the truck will not drive right. The engine will rev all the way to red line in park and neutral but once its in drive it will not go past 3k rpm. Once it gets to 3k it starts to spit and sputter and backfire. All the while the truck does move very good. When in drive it wont go over 45mph on the road it just wont go over 3k. When i have it in first gear it will go through the rpm range but it seems gutless like i can hardly spin the tires in mud. Anyone got any suggestions on whats wrong?

tcc means torque converter clutch.
id buy the $140 complete solenoid kit on ebay.

you may have a failed solenoid.also check the main plug for water in connection.(this will sometimes happen after driving through deep water.
plug located on drivers side of tranny, behind the shift levers.
those parts are easy to change.

im no expert....just what I read on google when I typed in dodge 1500 tcc code.
