So I've been wanting to do some HID's since the night I drove my truck off the showroom floor. Just not bright enough. I'm also working on blacking my truck out so i was thinking i'd go ahead and get the new housing that are black inside and then do the HID's but now I'm wondering about the projectors. Looking for some opinions. What kind of light output can i expect with the projectors vs. hid's? The only thing I'm not liking about the aftermarket projector housing are the led strips. I don't care for all that I just want better light output and lights that are black inside.

Whether you go HID's or Projectors with HID's it still HID's, your light output will be the same, you will get depending on what wattage HID's you install the same light output, the difference is with projectors your light will be concentrated to the front and will cut off clean below eye level of forward facing traffic, the light wont flare out all over the place by the reflector, with projectors you dont blind on-coming traffic with your lights. You can run HID's in your headlamps as is but you will need to lower them as not to blind on-coming traffic with the glare. You can modify your present housings with projectors or you can buy complete headlamps with projectors already in them, just be sure when you buy them they will accept HID's and find out the Max wattage you can use in them.
