Default Should I trade

Guys I have an 04 QCSB 4x4 with a 4.7l. The truck has 142,000 on it and runs really good. My job requires that I drive about 40k a year and pull a job trailer on occasion. I have a full exhaust, CAI and Superchips 3865. I was just wondering if you guys think it is worth it to trade up to an 06 QCSB with a Hemi and 71,000 miles. My biggest question is how much difference will I notice when pulling the trailer and going up grades? Also will my Superchips work on the 06 Hemi? My truck is an SLT and the 06 is a sport which I really like because of the painted bumpers and grill (not a big fan of chrome).

you will notice a shit tone of difference when towing. plus when adding mods to the 5.7 you will see dramatic changes from what you are feeling behind the wheel of your 4.7. i am not sure about the sc, i am running the bulldog triple dog tuner but i am sure you could go on their web site and check. i hate chrome myself and have everything color matched. hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. That's my biggest thing in wanting to trade is the motor. I hate when I pull my trailer and I'm pretty much "in the way". I also have to admit I really love the look of the sport.

if it's financially viable for you to trade, then do it!
You'll love the 5.7 over the 4.7 for what you do, and the sports are awesome.
And you should still be able use the tuner on your new truck as long as you update it and unmarry it from your current truck. Don't quote me on that though.

I agree. If you think the 2006 is a good truck and it's a financially sound move then I would jump all over it. Not only are you getting a slightly newer, more valuable truck but you are getting one with half the miles on it. And of course, the Hemi! I had a 2006 4.7L QC for about a year and ran across a 2004 5.7L QC with the same miles and a descent price. Both trucks were 4x4 and geared 3.92. I took advantage of the value of my slightly newer truck and swapped and have zero regrets. The 4.7L is a great little motor for easing around town and the back roads but in my heavy QC 4x4 truck it was pretty sad. It constantly hunted gears on the smallest of hills and on the interstate and God forbid you get a headwind....good luck maintaining 80mph, lol. The final straw was when I was driving it to the dealership to look at the Hemi truck. I had to travel from the foothills into the mountains and the 4.7L really struggled to pull itself up some of the steep grades often dropping into second gear and still lagging. I went down the mountain and back up while test driving the Hemi and it eased up it in mostly fourth gear, only dropping to third once or twice but still not breathing hard. I have never towed much with either truck but it has to be day and night with the Hemi.

Oh and yes, both your current truck and the one you are looking at use the Superchips 3865 so as has been said, as long as you return your old truck to stock you should be good to go with the SC on the Hemi. Let us know what you decide!!

P.S. Just in case my opinion wasn't clear....the Hemi has a 110hp/80tq advantage over the 4.7!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

Well that truck was a no go. The entire back glass had clear silicon around it. I ask if it leaked or had been replaced and the guy says "no", sure pal. I hate car salesmen.

Ahhh, hate to hear that. But if you are looking for a Hemi, keep looking. They are out there.

My biggest issue is the color. Since this truck is my company truck it must be white, 4 door and 4WD. So I'll keep looking. Thanks for all the input guys.

Just another note besides the available power with the Hemi; you won't really be sacrificing fuel economy either with the Hemi.
