Question What is needed to make an RHB radio work properly in my 2010?

My 2010 Sport came with an REN. It was replaced once under warranty. Then, my warranty ran out and the new radio started messing up. It randomly reboots itself especially when it's cold. After its on for awhile, it's fine. Just been living with that issue. I thought an RHB would hook straight up and the navigation would get its signal through the Sirius antenna. When I hook up the RHB, it never finds the navigation satellites. The rest works fine. I know I can buy an antenna for it, but I thought that was only if my truck didn't have Sirius. Plus, I think the external antenna hooks up where the Sirius antenna plugs in. I may be wrong. Did the Sirius antennas change in 2011 to allow the GPS to work? The other issue I have is the RHB radio drains my battery. It's definitely the radio. Doesn't happen when I switch back to the REN. If the truck sets for two days, it's completely dead. Is this related to the unit searching for satellites, or do I have an issue with this radio? The RHB came out of a 2011 Wrangler. Thanks for your help.

From what I've been told the radio's for the Wrangler's are Low bus the Ram's use high bus system the GPS gets an antenna the is placed under the top of the dash (kind of where your center speaker would go..if you dont have one).
Check this link it should give you all the answers you need

http://www.oemautopartsco.com/produc...IG_Install.pdf

If it work just give me a heads up that your ok with it. you should be able to find the GPS antenna on ebay or this site I just linked you to.
Hope it works

From my research, the Wrangler does use a high speed. The RHB is different from the RER. The RHB is Garmin based. The back of the radio doesn't have a separate spot to plug in the external navigation antenna like the diagram of the RER shows. I already have the All Gig and it works with the REN and the RHB. The RHB plugs in and works great other than the nav and the battery draining issue.

I appreciate any help I get.

I took the truck in to Dodge to have an exhaust leak fixed under warranty. I asked them to look into it, but no one there had any answers for me.

According to that, the RHB navigation gets the signal from the satellite radio antenna. I just wonder if that antenna is different on the 2011 from my 2010.

The problem with your battery going dead might be because the computer does not recognize it and it continues to search for it instead of going to sleep. I had the same problem with my battery going dead after I had installed an OEM brake controller. The computer did not have it in its program and it would keep searching for it. If you change the radio I would think you would have to take it back to the dealer and have them reflash the computer with the vin# + the radio code.
