Post Hemi 8 spd & Billet Catch Can

I just got done installing the Billet Catch Can on my Hemi 8 spd.
I have passed all of this information along to Scott @ Billet.

All of the plumbing for the 8 speed ie control vale and lines are running down the curb side of the engine. With the catch can installed things are fairly tight in that area now. It would probably nice if the Z bracket was a little bit taller. You actually have to push down (a liitle) to completely unthread the can for removal.

He's got a hemi 8spd on order but until it comes in there aren't any he can look at.

I would think the installation in other engine compartments would be less forgiving.

Just an FYI for everybody.

As you can see this area is tight.

I have anotated the lines. The most notable are the two that appears to be going to the transmisson and the one that is going to firewall (I assume the heater). after the T below the catch can. The line coming to it I beleive is head to/from the transmission also.

I can't get under the truck my shoulder is still messed up from surgery. I would then have a better feel of the water loop.

I love it. The best looking truck I've ever owned. I'm just can't wait to turn her lose. Our local PD have the Hemi Charger's and one was infront of me at a light and when the light turned green he took off. Boy I wanted to run with him!

Thanks for the pics. Did you have any problems installing it?

Not really. I'm getting a little old to be leaning over the hood. Especially this one.
I disconnected the airduct and didn't remove the top of the airbox. It just looked easier - two clamps and done.

I took my time trying to understand and work out any interferance issues.

All in all pretty straight forward 30-40 minutes.

Would you recommend me waiting for them to redesign the bracket before buying?
Mine is SUPPOSED to be delivered tonight or tomorrow. My birthday is this Friday, maybe I will be driving it by then.

That's a tough call.
Scott was willing to take the can back and refund my money. Absolutlely no problem. Was glad I had called as he thinks I might be the first one to put it on an 8 speed.
The issue would be abrasion due to vibration. That's what I have to watch for. If it doesn't touch then there really isn't a problem. Of course every one could be slightly higher or lower. They are moulded hoses hung from brackets.

I'm going to need a good 1000 miles before I can venture a real opinon.

If I was within 200-300 miles of Scott I'd take my truck to him and let his engineers take a look at it. They have more experience with what happens to the can.

This is my first time with a Hemi.

I used to build Mack trucks so I'm not unfamilar with what can go on.

Thanks for posting. I was considering the same purchase. I know Billet makes a great product, but Moroso is also an option. I have not studied whether their part number 85474 will integrate well with the issues noted here, but it does mount in a different location and is easier to drain.

Just something to consider.
