Not a huge factor, but the bucket seat arm rest has the embossed Ram head, while the bench seat arm rest does not.

Here's another thread talking about the same question. I posted my ideas in this thread. I started out with the bench seat, then I just recently changed my order to the bucket seats.

You really don't lose any comfort factor as far as the actual seats go, because the bench seat is still pretty much two buckets seats fastened together with a partial seat in between.

Thank you all so much for your input. I honestly have been slamming my head against a wall while researching trucks as almost everything I find is "I love Ram because ford sux" or reverse and/or add toyota and GMC in the phrase.

Having the cons and pros laid out (pun intended Gantman and plumcrazy73) is awesome. I have gone through a few back and forths on the seating and the info in this thread so far has moved me to bench.

Factors:

I was leaning towards bench for the occasional 6th kid going to soccer or whatever. However, like others mentioned I knew 98% of the time there was only going to be one occupant in the truck.

I like the look of the buckets but that is not a selling factor for me, comfort is my main concern. Thanks to info here I now see that the driver seat is the same (when it comes to where my body will sit) so it is a non factor.

I do not need much storage so while I enjoyed the bottomless cavern which is the console storage, I would likely not use it for anything important. Cleaning it out would not be fun for me so it would just be a dirty pit after a couple months.

Going for the 8 speed so floor and tree shifter are non-factors. I am a bit concerned that I will miss traditional style shifters and hope the dial does not mess me up too much.

Summary -- Bench is looking like a winner so far. Thanks to all who have contributed and to those which may add more along the way. Looking forward to any and all future comments.

I just got my third quad cab with a bench seat since 2008, I wouldn't take the buckets if the were free never mind paying for that option. A few times a year I have had six people in the cab. I take two long trips of 1750 miles/year. The bench seat works great with the fold down center storage.

My next truck will have the bench seat for 3 primary reasons. 1-I have 4 kids now, 2-The only rattles in my truck come from the center console, and 3-the sun can glare off of the silver trim/chrome bezel and nearly blind you while driving.

I test drove a Laramie with bench seat and love it. I think it's designed better than the console, more durable, less s

I have buckets- you want the bench.

It was the one thing other than color that I compromised on when I bought my Ram. The driver's and passenger's seats are no less comfortable on the bench than with the buckets, and it's nice to have that extra seat in the event that you have an extra person with you. Also it gives you more cargo room up front to lay things on the floor and the bench has plenty of storage in the fold up seat. Yes the bench is of questionable utility as a seat but its still nice to have the honey seat in the middle for the aforementioned circumstance when you are on a long trip with a female (or I suppose male if that's your thing) compadre. It's quite a reach across the console.

The only way I was able to justify buckets was because the rotary shifter on the 8 speed frees up a lot more storage space vs the old shifter, and I probably wouldn't use the 3rd front seat much. Still miss the honey seat though, every time I sit in my dad's '09 with the bench I wish my truck had one. The map/ document pockets on the sides of the console are pretty handy though.

Get the bench

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this or not, but I believe the "cooled/vented" seats are only available in the buckets. That and the looks are why I ordered mine with the buckets.

I'm the opposite of most. I specifically went with buckets so I wouldn't get asked to haul family and friends in the extra seat. Just call me antisocial.
