Smile Need help to make sure I have it right

I have a 2012 ram 1500 to change out the front gears I have to buy the whole front diff are just the carrier I just trying to make sure I have I right before I start buying thing and what about the rear end is there anything different about it are is it still the same as years past

the front & rear gears have to have the same gear ratio

I won't comment on the 2011 or 2012 gear swap
there are many members that can inform you on them, way better than i can

I wouldn't think you would have to buy a who dif maybe just the ring gear and pinion.. But aswell I'm no expert

Yes, on a 2012 you need to buy a front diff from a 2011 in order to change the gears. They welded the gears in on a '12 so it's not possible to change them. fastNugly@discountautoperformance has done the gear change and would be able to help you out as far as what's all involved. I think he said you'd be looking at around $3600 to do the full swap.
