Default Finally a nice day

I went to the auto parts store and bought a clay bar kit that I've heard folks raving about for my new Ram. I gotta say that clay seems a lot like Silly Putty to me, has anyone tried Silly Putty instead of the clay and did it work? It would probably be a lot cheaper than the clay if one can still find it.

how are you keeping your clay bars clean once they build up with dirt? i myself use a razor and skim it off but it takes forever to clay the truck, just wondering what is the cleaning procedure to get more use out of the clay? i know it can be folded and refolded but eventually your back to the dirty side

just continue to knead it into itself until its clean...if its still dirty after kneading, or there is any grit caught in it youre going to need a new one.

also, discard it if its dropped.

the new clay alternatives like speedy prep towel and the optimum block are gaining some real following for an alternative to clay. they last longer, and just rinse out. 50+ cars per towel/pad is what is being reported.
