The gain is that when the efan is not running you gain a couple hp. I don't know specifically about other climates but here in florida the stock setup was better for me. It's so hot here that the efan had to pretty much run at all times, which is actually using more hp vs the stock setup. Up north it may be an overall gain depending on your use.
