Why would you guys want the MDS off? Is it purely because of the constant changes with the cylinder shut off? Most people review any change of sound as being passive so I'm not sure here why y'all are manually gearing ?

For me I have come to the decision that yes, the constant changing from 4 to 8 back to 4 cylinders is always accompanied by a slight unsettling of RPM that goes with it, although I can't speak for most that say they never notice the MDS mode, I've always been able to identify it with both the trucks I have owned. Now that I have the ability to in effect use my overdrive gear minus the MDS, hearing from others in previous models that deleted the MDS with tuners, how smooth they drove and in a few cases no detriment to fuel mileage, I kind of proved that to myself with the last trip I did with my truck. So for me, I choose not to use it.

I was searching for a reason why my truck was ticking and it was only doing it while mds was on, after reading this I hooked up my tuner and turned mds off and made a 20 mile round trip I make all the time and seen close to a mile better per gallon and runs soooo much smoother in town. and no ticking at all.
