Default Ram trim level

I went to the dealer to pick up a black Slt, saw a mineral gray QC sport sitting on the showroom floor and that was all she wrote.

Got to be careful with this one, let's just say NICE!!! ...Very!
Cool stuff. I ordered mine on the 15th from graham smith and I was nothing but pleased. The finance manager sealed the deal 😏

That's right. I bought my old ram just before I was done High school and all the kids thought it was "gay" those kids either had it out with me in the parking lot or now are in the pen

I had this conversation with my wife last night about how aggravating buying American trucks are. The options on trucks seem to be infinite, and the line is very blurred as far as what options work with what -- Ford IMHO being the worst, but the Ram is still bad.

Ford Example: F-150's have 9 default style packages. 4 Engine Packages. 3 Cabs. 3 boxes. 2 drivetrains.

That is before you even get into options like ratios, technology, etc. What really gets me, is that Ford is VERY good at leaving out 1 or 2 features that really should be in the vehicle -- ie. Some, Luxury packages don't come with Homelink Garage door openers? And you may think I'm nit picking, but the fact that I was sitting in a 40k+ MSRP Ford, and it didn't have a garage door opener as a standard feature, boggles my mind.

Ram is guilt of this too. Backup camera's. 2013's can only have them installed at the factory. Sorry -- but this should be standard on any Truck with the 8.4. Or, a simple dealer add-on. Where Ford pretty much has them on every truck.

In addition, all cars a guilty of this, but the fact that you don't get the $.49 cigarette lighter any more, and need to get a "Smoking Package" is laughable. I don't smoke, but the ability to make fire has been around a bit longer than LCD Screens (Which seem to be standard these days), and since these are "Work Trucks" for most of us, to me that is sorta an important tool that one day we'll all need, and lots of us won't realize we don't have that feature until it is too late.

Anyways, my point is. I choose my Ram based off a basic set of features I was required to have. The Laramie to me is one of the better thought out standard packages to accent the standard truck features. So, +1 Ram for that.. But this whole industry is really starting to get aggravating, and I'm surprised more people on this thread aren't saying the same thing.

The process for me was pretty simple. Before I even looked seriously at the trim levels, I wrote down a list of what I wanted on the truck. I don't have the list anymore, but I know it had things like 4x4, skid plates, towing package, Hemi, etc. Then I went on the Ram site and built up from an SLT with all the features I wanted...then compared that against the different trim packages. Outdoorsman was the closest to what I wanted and the cheapest way to get those features.

I have to admit I was relieved it wasn't the Big Horn....I can just imagine what the guys at my office would do with that name.

All I needed a truck to do was tow decent and get me from point a to point b. I got a trdesman 2500 because it had the least amount of junk in it and accomplished both of those tasks.

My option was pretty easy.
Wanted a Regular Cab SWB
Couldn't afford the R/T
Took the Express
Done deal
