Default MSRP vs. FWP (dealer invoice)

I am a newbie on this forum as of yesterday and already have benefitted from the input of others!

I am about to order a 1500 SLT with V6 with just about every option I could get on it. Just curious if I'm getting a good deal.

The MSRP is $45,875. The FWP (I think is the dealer invoice) is $41,989. The dealer is giving me a price $500 less than the FWP. This is the price before any incentives. Does that make sense?

Thanks!

On that sticker price he can knock off a lot more than that.

Maybe some of the others will chime in.

I got that much knocked off a $26500 sticker price.

Shop around ...you might get suprised. I did.

FWP is fleet wholesale price, still nowhere near invoice.

You're getting a good price! FWP is invoice.

If they showed you the sheet with the FWP on it, then there are 3 other numbers listed on it. HB, FF and EP. HB is the holdback, FF is Friends and Family (Chrysler Affiliate) and EP is Employee pricing. From those 3 numbers, the number you want to look at is the HB. That's what the dealer has to work with.

HB is all profit, to a dealer on sold orders, if they sell at invoice. On vehicles on the lot, it's supposed to be used to cover floorplan and other expenses.

Believe me, you're getting a fair shake if they're selling at $500 below invoice + incentives. Yes you can do better, but it won't be much... If you find a volume dealer, or one that has to hit their allocation and are close to it, they might give you the complete holdback.

Good Luck!!!

Yes I agree it is a steep price, especially for a SLT. I really want the V6 and it is not available in any of the high level trims. So I got the SLT, 4X4, crew cab, bucket seats, ram box, Big Horn and Luxury Groups, wheel to wheel side steps, etc. I also wanted the active air suspension but it is "restricted" at this time.

I debated for many months on whether I should get a Laramie but finally decided on the V6. Probably doesn't make sense to some but I'm sure I'll be happy with the decision based on all my research.

If it's got enough power for you, it doesn't matter. You get to spend the next few months listening to the rest of us cry about summer gas prices.

Anything below invoice plus incentives is good. Anyone says different either has employee pricing or doesnt know what they are talking about. I would ask them to split the hold back with you plus that deal and you will have done great.

what options does it have for 45000 and a v6 slt. I know I got 9700 off msrp, So I would say there is still meat on those bones to be picked.
