Default Gears

How much would it be to change my 3.55 gears to 3.92 or 4.10 gears?

Do you have a 4x4 or a 4x2?

Thanks

Ok, what size tires are you going to try running?

If you were going to go through the expense of a gear swap I would do either 4.10's or 4.56's probably 4.56's if you plan on running larger tires, if you plan on staying somewhere around the factory height 4.10's would be ok, but I would still do the 4.56's that is just my opinion.

You are going to need to get a front gear housing out of a 2010 or 2011, and then you are going to need to work with a shop that doesn't mind machining or working with a machine shop. Most will spend around 2k for a complete gear swap sometimes even a little more. fastNugly has some great info on doing a gear swap on 2012's as he has done it to his truck with 4.56's. Check out his build thread for more info, I forgot what page it was but somewhere around 175 I think.

Thanks
Jeremiah

How much would it cost if it was an 09 4X2 to go from 3.55 to 3.92?

Someone on here just did a swap on his 4x2 and said it was $800 install then whatever for the gears (~$300) I think.

The change from 3.55 to 3.92 won't be that noticeable. You need to go to 4.10 or 4.56.

now if you have 3.21 then a swap to 3.92 would be sufficient. But if you are gonna spend the money..make a significant jump. just my advice, it all costs about the same. It's the install that costs $$$$$$$$$ the gears aren't much

+1 ^^

What size tires are you running or planning to run? That would also factor in to your decision. But like gonefishin776 said, I would go ride to 4.56's. If you're gonna spend the money, do it right!

I plan on putting on 305-55-20 nitto terra grapplers. The only reason i was going to go to 3.92 is i had a 2005 sport that had those gears and it had a lot of torque low end. from reading on in these forums i would most likely go with the 4.10. Just need to find a good place to get the parts and have the work done.
