I think it's getting better. From working at the dealership I know we look really hard for things to upsell. But we don't sell you things that aren't there. Sure there are "brake services" that they say to do every 20k but that's only cause the manufacturer recommends that and they try to get a customer to buy it

Been taking wife's Honda Pilot to Wal-Mart for years for oil change.
Mobil1 and tire rotation every other oil change.

Honda has 110,000 miles on it now and have never never had a problem with the service we get.

Will take the Ram there when it is ready for an oil change

$45.00 for the Honda ...5qts. and filter Mobil1

I have never heard one thing negative about it, alot of ram owners will change it every 10k miles and it still comes out golden

I use Amsoil in my 1500, amazing stuff that's well worth the price. I use (Or will use) three Gallons (Yes, 12 Quarts) of Rotella in my CTD that's going to cost just as much..

I just keep a log book for what I do to much trucks, more for myself than the stealerships. I can't remember half the time when I change the oil, and I rarely go by the lights. i keep a log of all the filters, fluid changes, even wipers.. works well.

Financially, it's not cheaper.

They're charging you for the oil's price as well as labor.

Time spent wise, yes it may be. However, an oil change on our trucks should take 1HR at best.

$Free.99

I know this doesn't help the OP, just being a pain in the butt and relieving some tension

Free oil changes through the dealership, actually I'm paying for it somewhere, somehow.

Very true.

RamTech and myself - just to name a couple - have commented on this in the past several times.

HERE is my most recent reply [22].

Dropping in ONLY when you need them, just doesn't cut it.

An honest dealer will get you covered, regardless of where you have your maintenance done, if the breakdown isn't caused by abuse. Sometimes they'll do it even if it was cause by abuse...
Comes back to the link I posted above.

That's a damn good price for those who don't want to get their hands dirty.

Yes, that's a great buy....if in fact you're getting the service you paid for.....

Just out of curiosity: Next time you take your vehicle/s somehwere and pay for a tire rotation, grab some chalk and place a small number in the INSIDE wall of each tire and make note of what's where. Then, upon getting it back, comapre those numbers and see of the tires WERE actually rotated.

Most places perform a tire rotation for free after the initial purchase. But do they actually do it?

I've done this several times over more than 20-years of driving at various places. I was truly shocked at how often nothing changed!

Well when I bought my truck two weeks ago. The dealer said I get 4 free oil changes, 4 changes before the 24K mark. This wasn't a dealer thing...this comes from Chrysler itself here in the States. Which is great...after these 4 changes I don't know how much Im going to pay.
