Default The Trans-Am Trail Rig Build

Well originally my truck build was just to have a truck thats fun looks good and is more capable off road. However things tend to change (kinda its still all of those things ) my build has evolved quite a bit and I have gotten some sponsors. The name of the post says it all I will be building the truck up to be able to complete the Trans-Am Trail which approximately 5,000 miles off road coast to coast. Before I do the Trans-Am Trail I will be doing the shadows of the rockies trail that goes from El Paso TX to Wyoming that will be this summer. Now lets get to the build and what I have done so far and what will be done soon.

So I started with a stock 2013 RAM 1500 Express

Then I put in an 87mm PTB and Vararam intake after that I added the bullydog tuner all from Bullys Performance after that I added a CB Radio and 800 watt power inverter. Next came the 35s on black ballistic morax wheels then I lifted it 3in and put the Iron Cross push bumper and 12,000lb Badlands winch and a 34in light bar to the bumper. Then I got the itch for a sound system so I replaced all the factory speakers with 6x9 Kickers and added 2 10in Kicker subs and a Fosgate amp and my most recent addition is a 52in light bar over the windshield.

here is how the front looks today

and here are some trail shots at various points during the build

Now for the next phase of the build. I will be going up another 3in with long travel suspension and getting a set of 6 new 37in mud tires and 2 more matching wheels and a dual tire carrier to replace the tailgate. Then an auxiliary fuel tank to replace the factory spare tire (its either 25 or 35 gallons I need to look at the specs again) Then onboard air that can run air tools and an onboard welder a full set of custom skid plates. There will be other things that will be added as well but I am still working with current and prospective sponsors and have to work things with them before I say what else will be added.
The wish list includes

Trinity programmer to replace the bullydog

bedliner paint job

custom bed rack

Sat phone (not really a mod but would be nice)

exhaust

4:10 gears

new torque converter

rear bumper to match the front

more recovery straps and gear

and the list just goes on forever lol

And the last note is that to my knowledge the Trans-Am Trail has never been done in its entirety in a full size truck so this will be a first and in a RAM!!!

Oh I gotta get comfy to watch this build come into play. Your truck is gonna be pretty damn heavy with all the mods you have planned, especially a bedliner paint job. But damn is it gonna be awesome.

Best of luck to you with getting it all built and on the trails, we expect lots of pics. Or maybeeee a go pro would be a good investment to mount on the truck to film it and also to take cool pictures of.

I love overlanding. But you are way more hardcore than me. I'll do 100 miles on a weekend. But 800 miles? No. 5000 miles? HELL NO!!!! You are a hell of a man.

Thanks for the compliments and don't worry there will be multiple go pros mounted on the truck during the trip.

Here are a couple of pictures I took today out on the trail.

did you have custom brackets welded up? i was always told and thought that the drop down brackets would start to bend due to the weight and that the winch would be useless
