If you drive that much off-road then I would agree with you that not having flares wouldnt be an option. Heck, even with that much dirt road driving I wouldnt mind having a little extra overhang on the flares for the extra protection. If you dont like the pocket flares then maybe check out the extend-a-fender from bushwacker, they are 1.75". They would look pretty good with your setup I bet.

I have EGR bolt on style they are 2" front and back, I'm running a 12.5 tire with a -12 offset and the sidewall of the tire sticks out very little past the flare. I also like the look of the EgR over the bushwhacker because the flare is longer and goes to the bumper instead of just the headlight.

Once I get home I can post some pictures
