Default Driving Lights

I was checking out the driving lights on my new Longhorn. The clear plastic lenses are installed behind the chrome bumper. It seems as if I am loosing a lot of light due to this. When I turn them on at night it doesn't really make a difference on the road. This is a surprisingly pretty poor design since everything else on the truck is top notch.

Anyone else notice this or is it just me?
