Default Test drove 2 loaded laramies today

One with air and one without and both had 6 speeds. I am looking for a loaded sport but wanted to see how the air ride was. The air ride was overall a smoother ride especially on bumps. If your going to spend 50K on a truck you might as well get it all.

The smooth acceleration on both trucks was amazing and the hemi is bad ass! I was told by the dealer that if I ordered the truck I would not get any rebates or incentives, is that true? I have them looking for a black sport loaded with 8 speed and air but they aren't having much luck.

If you order you lose out on dealer rebates, not factory rebates if they are available for that trim level. I just ordered an Outdoorsman yesterday (Hemi/8Spd/CC/6'4) and I had $3250 in rebates available and if the dollar amount of the rebates increased by the time the truck arrives, I would benefit from that as well. I did lose out on $1500 in dealer rebates b/c of the order but that's OK as I got the truck I wanted, not a truck that someone else thinks I want.

Also, sign up for the emails/snail mail stuff from the Ram website. They have been sending out $500 rebates in the form of a card to some people. But, if you qualify for the employee discount you can't use the TDM (Targeted Direct Marketing) rebate. Other ways to get rebates: Recent college grad, Currently in Military or Veteran, USAA member, Tread Lightly member. There are a few more but I can't think of them right now.

So how do I know what is a factory rebate and a dealer rebate. Would the dealer rebate be a trade in allowance type of thing. I am getting 1750 in incentives plus a 1000 for having a trade in.

In the end I guess it doesn't matter because my truck I have now is on its way out and I don't want to sink any more money into it so I don't want to wait 2 months to get the truck from the factory.

Factory rebates are listed on the Ram website and I believe that $1750 you are talking about is a factory rebate/incentive, which you would get on both an order and an in-stock vehicle. Factory incentives are here:

http://www.ramtrucks.com/en/incentives/

From what I can gather, the trade-in rebate is only valid on an in-stock vehicle, though I hope if I'm wrong someone on the forums corrects me.

Dealer rebates also include the "matching $" rebates and new car $. Check out the link I attached from a dealer near me. All those rebates/incentives listed in the center are dealer incentives.

If you order a truck you are guaranteed all "protected" rebates at the time you ordere your truck plus anything that increases while you wait or take possession of vehicle. Protected rebates are generally rebates ALL consumers are elegible for. Currently that is $1,750 plus $500 for certain regions. Also the trade in allowance. Rebates that are NOT protected are things like FFA, USAA, Tread lightly, etc. because not EVERYONE can get them.

Thanks for those links! If I knew my current truck would last I might order one but I don't know if it will make another week let alone 2+ months.

If your dealer won't deal on an ordered truck, time for a new dealer. See the thread on negotiating tips.

I had the same issue with the protected and not protected rebates when I was looking to order. I left the one dealership I was working with because they said they couldn't do anything. Went to another. The sales person text me while at the other and said they talked to the owner and they will cover those rebates and take the chance of paying it out of their profit. That was the good thing because the other dealer said they wouldn't honor them either. That was 4750 total in rebates compared to the 2250 in protected rebates. In addition the original dealer gave me 2200 more on my old 98 ram. Now only have to wait another week or two while its being shipped.
