Default So I have an idea..

I'm thinking about picking up a set of the Thule 60" top rack mount bars and using them on the bed of our 1500. We have a Bakflip F1, I'm thinking about mounting the bars outside of it on the top of the covers, then using a cross bar system to mount or tie things to.

This all started when I was looking for a way to haul our bikes around, currently I have no options that I really care for. I don't want to use the reciever and I really don't want to use the full bed. I'm thinking with my idea, I would be able to leave the cover closed (Giving us a place to store lots of stuff) while putting the bikes on top.

I have a 22" frame bike (XL) that won't actually fit into the bed of a CCSB 1500, so being on top I wouldn't have to remove a wheel to take it from place to place.

My only concern is finding bars that will reach to each side of the bed. Anyone ever tried something like this, or should I just keep looking?

I'm trying to find a way to take everything on one vehicle, packing the bed with camping gear/food, bikes on top, boad on the reciever. I'm also looking for a setup that can be fairly easily moved to my 2500 (Minus the rails attached to the bed obviously..).
