Default Side steps from dealer or aftermarket?

Just bought a 2013 Ram Sport. Dealer is offering me Black Tubular Side Steps for my quad cab, part #82211498AF. They are $742 from the dealer.

Is this a good deal or should I pass on this and get something at a later date?

I do want something high quality.

I have to let them know tomorrow or it will be too late as I pick it up on Thursday

I see your in Canada do prices are different but I would have them throw in the running boards in on the deal or at least get employee pricing. They still make a little money and you get a better deal. Also don't have them install them unles it's free as they are really easy to install and only take about a half hour. DO NOT pay full price since your buying a new truck from them. JMO.

In the US my dealer has it listed as follows: Installed: $477.00
Part Only: $382.00

I can't see that the parts should almost double by purchasing in CA vs US.

$477 installed is not bad. I would do it for that price. I think those steps US pricing is probably close to $600 plus.

I decided to get the dealer to install them for me. There was no negotiating the price as I already got the truck at cost. The salesguy is a relative and he took off every penny that he possibly could and in the end I got a fully loaded sport with the Hemi and 8 speed for $36k. I couldn't in good faith ask for a discount on the running boards.

Check to see if the dealer offers a discount for parts & accessories to customers. I just had a back-up camera installed and they discounted the price of the camera as a customer who bought the truck from them. Otherwise, often aftermarket can be equal or better in quality for less $.

Mine came without steps. I am going with the N Fab steps. Cheaper and I like them a lot more than the Ram tube steps I had on my 09. Still trying to decide between the 2 step and the 3 with bed access step. There under $600 for the 3 step and under &500 for the 2 step. For some extra money they also powercoat or paint them any color. They come in gloss blk powdercoat and they told me they would do mine in flat back for no extra charge. I have to admit my friends AMP steps are really nice but at $1100 they're also twice the price.

Look in the Ram accessorie catalog. They make an aluminium running board that to me looks much better than the standard tube ones they throw on everything. This is what we had installed on our 13 CC. When you talk to the parts guys, mention that you just purchased your truck new and they might give you a discount. Ours did on a bed liner and mud flaps.
