Default EGR Reflash Concern

I was going to replace my EGR valve but was told that the dealer would need to reflash the PCM. The problem I have is my truck has a DiabloSport Trinity with a CMR tune...and the tune wasn't cheap. I was told that I would have to get a new CMR tune after the reflash was done. My question is does anybody know a way around this? Or maybe cleaning the EGR would be a better idea? It is not throwing a code yet but I want to keep up on everything. And also the fact that the new EGR valve is a new design probably means the old one is garbage. Any advice would be appreciated.

why do you need a PCM flash to be done for replacing a EGR? Sounds like they want some $$$$$

Just replace the EGR. You wont need to do anything with the tune on your engine. They might be talking about just unhooking the battery to clear the code. If you dont have a code though, then you shouldnt even need a new EGR anyways.

If you decide you do want a new EGR they only cost like $40 and replacing them yourself takes 10-15 min at most. It's a really simply procedure. Just 4 bolts.

Even if your EGR was bad you could still drive with it like that without really having to worry about anything.

I was told even by DiabloSport that the PCM would need to be reflashed. And because the CMR tune was written under the parameters of the old EGR that it would be slightly different. Replacing it is a easy job but is cleaning it even an option? If so what is the best method to safely clean it? The reason why I have been considering changing it is because my truck has been acting a little odd. Sometimes the idle gets a little rough for a short time. And sometimes at a stop light, with my foot on the brake I get a little jolt forward. Once I actually thought the person behind me lightly bumped me. I have already clean the throttle body and pcv valve. I was told by my CMR tuner that he thought the torque converter was acting up. Then for a second opinion I took it to a highly recommended transmission shop in the area and the were convinced that it is not a transmission related issue. So I figured id troubleshoot with the easiest things before taking it in the a shop or dealer.

It is a dyno tune. But I will no longer go to this particular shop anymore because he was so quick to assume I needed a new torque converter without even checking it out. Any ideas out there as to what problem I may be having? Or should I just go ahead and take it to a shop?

Did you have the tuner tune out the EGR? So that its not there? I dont see how the EGR valve would cause your truck to jolt forward at all. And even with it dirty you shouldnt really notice a difference.

I know when mine was dirty (both times, as I've replaced mine twice) that the truck ran the same just slightly worse MPG, but other than that nothing like what you're saying

I don't believe he tuned it out. And Im not even sure if the EGR has a problem. I purchased this truck used a few months ago at 40,000 miles and don't know what all has been done to it in terms of maintenance so I figured I check out all the cheap and easy things. I just figured since they redesigned the newer EGR there must be a reason for it. Any ideas of what I should take a look at before taking it to a shop? As of now its nothing very serious but can be somewhat annoying. Also I notice my MDS will turn on as low as 10mph and as high as 80mph. Is that normal?
