Default Mufflex 18... Towing...

I am seriously contemplating pulling the trigger on a 18" mufflex. My only reservation is about drone when towing, and it not being too loud for a baby inside the cab.

We tow our boat to several different lakes. Some trips are as long as 1.5 hours each way, and have several steep hills. Is this muffler overly loud in the cab when towing?

I am about to pull the trigger as soon as I can get some input on this...

Any/ all replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Ramcharger. I have the 18" Mufflex and its not at all bad with in cabin drone for your baby. My Pops and I have gone to lakes 2 hours away and are able to have conversation without yelling and yet the low rumble of that mighty Hemi lets us know we're in tow. Many a times I have wished I went with the 14" but maybe I'm just gettin old and prefer a nice peaceful conversation with the ole lady or Mom and Pops.

I love my 18, not too loud, not to soft, even when towing.

I got the 14 and I love it.. I don't notice any drone at all.. Until I tow with it.. That's my only complaint with the extra load on it and the exhaust sound echoing off the trailer it will make u crazy.. But empty it's music to my ears... Yea this dosent quite answer your question just figured I'd throw in my bit of input..

The 18" maggie is not much louder than stock, just a 100% better sound. I haven't towed with it, but I couldn't possibly see it being an issue.

I'm thinking I should ditch my 22" and step up to an 18" lol
I hear nothing but good things bout them.
I'd say do the 18"
It's a happy medium

I also have the 18", and the only time I hear a tone change is when mds engages.I notice no drone @ hiway speeds, just nice and mellow. One thing I did notice, when I first installed ,it lacked about half an inch from contacting the tit on exhaust pipe. I rotated the mufflex 180*, and it butted up nicely. After running & heating the exhaust up , I retightened and no problems at all. My opinion- sounds grreat!

I have an 18" Magnaflow on mine, not that mufflex waste of money and the drone is minimal when I tow. I tow a 7000lb travel trailer regularly 4-5hrs and it's not bad at all.

Now when the mds kicks in that's a whole different story. But I'll let you experience that one on your own.

This is what I heard too....getting a magnaflow vs a mufflex is what eliminates most of the drone

I have yet to run a mufflex and have only ran the magnaflow muffler
