Default Muffler?

Getting a new exhaust set up through DAP, just muffler and tips right now.... I am going to start running duals I am getting 2 4" in 5" out chrome tips but I cannot decided what size muffler to go with. I have talked to Andrew and he said it just depends on your taste.

I have been looking through the Exhaust 4.7 section and info just really seems to vary.

I really want to get a deep rumble I was first leaning towards throaty and that is what I told Andrew at first but after looking at some exhaust vids I like the rumble.

What size muffler would you guys recommend??

Anyone else looking for a nice exhaust set up be sure to check out http://discountautoperformance.com/

I think the size has more bearing on how loud it will be than it does the tone. That rumble is going to be a product of the muffler design more than anything. There are lots out there but I would consider Magnaflow, Dynomax, or Borla. Those are three of my favorites. On the Magnaflow for example, the muffler is offered in 14", 18" and 22". They will all sound relatively similar in tone but the shorter ones will simply be louder.

I put a 14" on mine and it's a bit loud for me. I left stock resonator and stock tailpipe too. I will eventually add a resonator before the muffler to quiet it a bit or gut my cats and turn them in to resonators. If I were to do it again I'd do an 18" or larger muffler. But that's not to say I'm really unhappy with mine, I like it 90% of the time but it's that 10% that it hurts my ears. It's not even really that loud, I guess it's drone or whatever they call it.

I have a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system on my 4.7 which come with the 50 series HD muffler. I think it sounds great. It's nice and loud when you put your foot into it but quite enough cruising down the highway so it doesn't give you a headache.

To find the sound you like try searching it on youtube. It's hard to find 4.7's on there, but the ones on hemi's will at least give you a pretty close idea. Just make sure you use headphones when listening otherwise you aren't really getting the right sound.

I love my 18, not to loud, and when you put your foot in it, wow is it nice.
