Default roll pan and factory receiver

I am wanting to go with a roll pan to replace the ding/dent bumper on the rear of my truck. Has anyone modified the factory receiver to fit a roll pan? I am a very good welder and have access to free steel, just curious if anyone has done this so i am not heading off into this project in the dark. Would I just be better off to postpone until I can afford the $200+ for an aftermarket receiver?

It won't work unless you cut out a big section of the roll pan. Best idea is to build a hidden hitch with a receiver behind the center of the roll pan, get a license plate flip down kit, and you can have a hitch and roll pan. Since you have an '04, Street Scenes has a kit to do all this.

If you're a welder, you can fab up the hidden receiver a lot cheaper than buying it, just have a look at their design and see how you can make something work.
