Will be installing mine soon...swapping my 14 for an 18 (haven't installed either yet but plan to in a couple weeks when work slows a bit). Reason I am returning the 14 and getting the 18 is I think the larger case should produce a slightly deeper idle and once broken in should be where I want to be volume/sound wise. 14 seems like it would be about as loud as FM 40 and not looking to have that in this truck at this time. Once its older and lifted and etc maybe then 14 goes in.

The stock Sport muffler is different from the other Rams correct? Would it be worth selling? Seems to sound a tad deeper than other stock Rams I have heard...

It's gigantic, not sure what else it could be used on. I left it at the muffler shop for them to dispose of how they see fit.

Based on the Gearz episode I saw where he replaced the muffler and pipes fairly easily using only clamps on a 2012 Longhorn are most of you guys doing the muffler job yourself?

It depends what kit you get. On the Gearz episode the kit came with all the hangers and extra pipe required. I don't think the Magnaflow muffler comes with that stuff. You would need to go buy some extra pipe and the clamps. However welding it in is a much better idea. I installed a full Flowmaster catback system just using the clamps the provided. I did go under and tack weld all the joints once I had everything set where I wanted it so it wouldn't move. But I do have bit of a leak an the joint between the muffler and the pipes coming out of it. I'm probably going to get back under there and fully weld them up.

I see, makes sense.. thanks! Probably would just a local shop do it, they carry both Flowmaster and Magnaflow.

ramdude, i know i am late to this thread. you might want to wait a bit before changing out muffler. my 11 sport is a bit louder than when i bought it new. you might like the sound as it breaks in.
