Do I try and get the axle shaft apart from the cv axle?
Do I buy a new shaft to go into the new cv axle?
When all the axle work is down , how does thing go back in with that c-clip?
This pretty much sums it up. I just did an axle on my truck 3 weeks ago and after 3 hours of hitting it with a 16lbs hammer, I finally grabbed my saws-all and chopped it out. It then just popped out. Both my inner and outer CV joints were buggered real bad though, so I think that played a factor into them being so hard to get out because the new one slid right into place no problem. Oh and you can just buy a new stub axle and you should be able to slide it back in the way it came out and be good to go.
