Default My Ram seems to be lugging?

Not sure if 'lugging' is the right word, but when I'm driving and am at a constant speed, my Ram seems like it's in a higher gear than it should be, and it's lugging... When I press the gas a little harder sometimes it downshifts, and sometimes it just seems to lug even more...?

And about a month ago, I was stopped going up a somewhat steep hill, and when I let off the brake and gave it a little gas to move forward, it was as if I were in a manual, and let the clutch out a little too soon, it's like it almost stalled... This has only happened once.

Is this lugging normal in a 2012 Ram, or should I go into the dealership? I'm relatively young, 23, and I feel like they'll tell me nothings wrong because I don't know that much about cars.

I've got 14000 miles on mine and it doesn't do anything like your describing.

I feel like what you are experiencing here in the second part of that statement is normal for these rams. Mine does it..and i've heard others report it. It's like your giving it gas...and the RPMS just dropped anyway..until u mash the pedal and it finally downshifts. Kind of annoying but..mine does it too. Not sure about the "stalling" part, but if it's only done it once i wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep an eye out

Also, I see you are from Stafford too and we are the same Age..hmmmmm

I can also relate to this "lugging"

The rpm's want to drop before they want to go up...until I push it to about 40% throttle. That's just a normal occurance, nothing to fret about.

Completely normal, this is how tranny's are programmed now a days, the dive to overdrive or the highest gear they can all in the name of fuel economy. The ram 5/6 spd does seem to be worse than others as I have driven Duranagos and they dive for o.d. right away to. Just have to get used to it

We're all gonna have this hesitation on our trucks, no getting around it. Back in the medieval days, the armies would break down the castle doors with a RAMming post. First thing they always did, was swing it backwards to gain a forward momentum. I look at our Rams the same way. Lose a little momentum to gain a bunch in the other direction

I thought we weren't allowing complaining anymore about our trucks?

Don't worry OP I complained about the same exact thing a while back and got flamed for it. I described it as I can push the pedal down a good inch or two before the truck wants to accelerate. I find it hard to believe they're designed that way but it's just something we have to live with I guess.
