Got mine in the mail also, I hate being reminded of the fact my rear end could lock up at any moment. Hopefully they will get parts soon.

I talked to my local dealer today...they say the parts will be available within the next two to three weeks and that the follow up "official" notices should start getting mailed. The process takes about two hours and most of that is paperwork. They also said there is a software update that may affect some of the vehicles that will be applied at the same time. The process is to actually replace the existing pinion nut with a new one with the ; apparently impossible to find "lock patch"..aka locktite. From his understanding the problem has been with the sourced producer of the pinion nut. Why the flip not get another supplier?

I have been pro Dodge my whole life, but this delay over something so seemingly simple is really wearing on my nerves.

My notice says:
The dealer will inspect the pinion nut for looseness. Trucks without a loose pinion nut will receive a pinion nut retainer ring installed. Trucks with a loose pinion nut will have the rear axle reconditioned.
1/2 hour for retainer; 4 hours for recondition.
I'm instructed to bring the letter with me.

I wonder what reconditioning will include?

Reconditioning=rebuilding, new bearings, carrier, pinion, spider gears, the whole 9.

I got my notice 2 months ago and still nothing. I get down there every now and then and give the driveshaft a good thrashing by hand...shes tight as could be.

Visited my dealer yesterday. It took them 30 mins to find the new part on their system. They were completely obilvious to the new part or procedures. Apparently 30 mins to 6 hours depending on if nut was loose and damage.

I will be first in line at my dealer. A little nervous these guys about learning curve on the repair.

My servie guy said opposite. The first will be done step by step without short cuts until they figure out the short cuts, etc...

Just be glad when this is all over. What a f-up this has been.

Also, pissed that they refused to inspect the nut after first notice, before part was available to determine if it was loose, etc...

I don't get it.

Musky
