Mine says 3.21 too, and it's supposed to have 3.55s. It's probably a generic sticker they put on all of the gear housings.

Those gears are unacceptable. I am going to check my truck now just to make sure it has the 3.55's. It should but apparently they are half asleep while building these. I would demand a new one or make them swap the gears, fix the bed, and get rid of any vibrations before taking it back. Maybe that's why mine died in my driveway today. Good luck.
When you guys look beneath truck to determine rear axle ratio, where are you looking, and what exactly are you looking at? I've never seen any indication of rear axle ratio stamped or labeled on drive line. Anyone got pic?

I guess the real question is, does anyone have a sticker that says something other than 3.21

Thx for pics! If mine ever comes in, I'll inspect this sticker. I'm betting its a generic sticker, as you said...if not, bad mojo! I wonder if the rear axle gears come pre assembled inside the housing and axle and ready to fit?

Why in heck did Ram go with such a high gear for a truck? My 05 has 3:92's, does not have MDS and supposedly has 45 less hp than the new Rams. I still get 16.5 mpg and it feel way quicker than the new Ram's that I've driven. New ones are quieter, have better interiors, ride better, but I see no reason to trade mine with 185,000 miles. I like the old style instrument panel better too.

I agree. I had 3.21's in the used 09 I bought. Took less than a month for me to swap a set of 3.92's in

Mine shows 3.21 under optional equipment. It also says "Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle" too, which is good.

BTW: To get to this page I had to select "Learn & Use" > "Equipment."
