With my truck on order I have been looking for a complete quality wash,wax,polish,sealant kit. I know you probably have to piece it together but what are good products to use. I would need everything from buckets to a polisher. Thanks for your help

Hey Clark;

I just posted some advice in this thread...http://ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=139608

you may be interested in some info there....

as for polishers, you cant beat the lifetime warranty on the Griots Garage if youre looking for a DA. if it is a bit too ich for your blood, Harbour Freight has great prices on DA and rotary polishers in the USA.

If you have money to spend, look to the Rupes. i dont have one yet, but im fixing to unload my Flex (another expensive machine) to get a Rupes.

Thanks for the advice guys. Do you need to use a DA and a rotary polisher? I was just reading about the flex and how light it is. I am a noob to all of this but I want to do it right with quality products.

if youre new to machine polishing stay away from a rotary...you can cause serious damage if your not careful in seconds.

for a newbie, look to the Porter Cable (less powerful than the Griots Garage and very safe DA), but it will work great. If you will respect the power of the Griots Garage, it is a more durable machine, but you can get it going a bit fast and overheat the pads and cause them to delaminate which in turn could cause you to scratch the living daylights outta your paint.

Considering you consider yourself a nooby, you can't go wrong with Griot's garage products. They are geared toward the enthusiast with limited experience, yet for enthusiasts of high end cars, so the products are quality. Some very good products, particularly polishes, can be aggressive and a disaster in untrained hands. Griot's Garage products tend to be friendly to the rookie detailer, but yield excellent results.

I really don't want to mess up the paint on my new truck so can you get a good finish without out using a machine?

How hard is it to use a DA? I use a DA all the time at work (cabinet finisher) but its not the same thing is it?

Damn right!

Even though I had issues with their customer service recently with anorder - that left a foul taste in my mouth - I will never bagg the product.

It makes up for over 90-percent of my detailing supplies.

Highly recommended.
