Default MDS Question

Hey guys I'd like to know if it is possible on my 09 Ram SLT 4x4 to flash or change my ECM or whatever controls it to allow my MDS to have the step down and up to 6 cyclinders. As ya know the 09's on up to 12 or 13 I think it is have only the 8 to 4 shut off but if possible Id like to have it like the newer models to go 8-6-4 and have that middle step to help mileage out even more.

I am fairly certain there is no option to do that. In theory it would be nice I suppose.
But also I'm sure there is a way more technical answer to why that's not possible
Best you can do is a get a tuner and shut the worthless MDS off.

i dont believe so, never heard or seen it but who knows maybe get in touch with a tuning software company and they can set something up. Not sure if the motor itself is capable of doing it though for the older models.

i can def feel a big power jump between 4-8-4 a 6 in there would make the power band much more smooth i think as well. not a bad idea at all.

Has anyone heard of any tuners actually able to fine tune the MDS? Does Diablo have the ability with it's custom tuning?

Well I brought this up cause the MDS has to be controlled by the ECM some way or another weather it'd be totally separate or a plugin

I just turned mine off and noticed no MPG difference, so...I left it off.

I don't think MDS is a benefit unless you are mostly highway on flat roads and no wind and unloaded and you only weight 110lbs and it is 68F with 35% humidity and overcast with white fluffy cumulus clouds.

More like a fancy sales gimmick that regular "dudes" think work: "It will only use 4 cylinders instead of 8 at times, which means you will use less gas!"

Well it all has to do with your driving to get the benefits of the MDS, if you drive like a lead footed gorilla all the time the MDS won't have a chance to engage. I've changed my driving habits several times and there is a true benefit to the MDS when you let it work.

My dad always talks about the old Cadi he had that was an 8-6-4 motor. Said it was the worst idea they could have ever come up with it. This is going back some time though haha!
