Default Factory spray in bed liner

I didn't know that they only spray the inside of the bed and not the rails or tailgate top. The rails and tailgate top have a "spray in bedliner look" caps on them. That's pretty sad I think. That's just going to be rust central once salt and snow get under that cap. For 500 bucks you would think you would get the whole thing sprayed.

For what it's worth, I had a salesman tell me to get the spray in liner on my own as an aftermarket one would be thicker and it would be cheaper. I had an 8' bed on my last truck and I got an over the rails Rhino Liner for about $50 more than the factory liner.

I guess the next logical question, since you pointed out the caps and I hadn't thought of it before, is would it be better to have the caps removed and the liner taken sprayed on the rails rather than up to the caps?

I've heard pros and cons. One pro being no moisture. But I've heard if you use your truck as a truck and you say hit the rail with a shovel or something really hard it could dent or chip. Heard a few line x guys recommend to not go over the rails

The caps are not meant to have bed liner on or under them.

500? Was that the price for a factory option? When I purchased my truck the dealer tried to sell me (or add to the price of the loan) a spray in that was done at the dealership,, this included top of the rails etc...all for $385.

You guys must have it cheap cause the factory spray was 450 and there's no way in hell I will find someone locally here who will do it for less. So for me factory is good. Either way its covered by same truck warranty.

The factory option price was $475.

I can get better for the same price, not less. From what I've been told, including Ram sales people, the factory liner is thinner than aftermarket.
