Default Its not the IAC

OK I was having a problem with my truck that it would stall out when the engine is cold if I'm not driving. It would start to idle rough and I could hear a loud sucking noise.

After some time on the boards I came to the conclusion that it was the IAC because it seemed like my problems matched that of many people on here and it all pointed to the IAC.

I replaced the IAC but it still has the exact same problems. Same sound same rough idle when cold and same stalling problem.

There is no CEL. I even scanned it and there are no stored codes either.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on here?

if it shakes a lot before it stalls it could be low on trans fluid and the converter could be trying to lock up, check that make sure its in nuetral when you check it and if its low add some and itll clear that idle right up

No luck. Tranny was fine. Fluid was clean and at the perfect level. it wasn't even burnt.

any other ideas?

Check for vacuum leaks. Sucking noise sounds like an intake/vacuum leak.

I haven't been able to find any leaks yet. Could it possibly be the butterflies? Like not opening enough at idle? Thus throwing off the AFR.

I believe that's what the IAC valve is for. I think the butterfly on the TB is supposed to close basically 100% and then the IAC valve opens or closes as needed to maintain idle rpm.

IMO, if you have a "sucking" noise, you have a intake leak somewhere.

It sounds exactly like my parents 96 mark 8. It will hardly run when it is cold, but once its up to temp it runs fine. So we went and replaced the IAC and the TPS and it still did it.. So after some research we found that our IMRC's were not opening... Completely different engine though, just same symptoms

I'd hazard a guess that the temp sensor behind/under the alternator is stuck in warm mode, sending warm engine inputs to the ecu. IAC noise is normal when cold on both of my trux

Sounds like your intake gasket is shot. Check the bolts on the intake, do the sequence. The bolts do come loose over time, its good to check them periodically. Mean while, Mopar did revise the intake gasket set. No more cork gaskets.
