You know, I've been waiting for someone to come out with decent mirrors like the ones you bought for my truck for the last couple of years, but they were never available. I've tried two or three variations of clip-in mirrors, and they all sucked. And, of course, after I spent $300 on a pair of mirrors, now they're available from two manufacturers. DOH! I loved the CIPA mirrors on my F-150.

I'm happy with the new ones, though. The turn signal setup is a bit different (can't see them from beside and behind the truck like the stock mirrors), but they do have the puddle lamps, and that's good.

Yes, they're wonderful. I purchased my last trailer brake from them, along with the appropriate harness that plugged right into my truck. It was a beautiful thing!

I ordered and received them a week or so ago, and put them on yesterday. They look and work fabulous! From my invoice:

2011 RAM 1500 5.7L V8 OHV
CH1320315 Outside Mirror $ 154.79
CH1321315 Outside Mirror $ 154.79
Shipping Ground $ 14.03
Tax $ 17.80
Order Total $ 341.41

Pics of the new mirrors are attached.

Now just waiting for the stinkin' Wisconsin snow to stop falling so I can get out and do some camping! Longest. Winter. Ever.

I am considering replacing my mirrors with tow mirrors and I like the Rock Auto option as they are considerably less expensive than OEM and yours look good in your pictures. Can you tell me how you are liking them now that they have been on a little while and if you were to do it over again, would you? I am also interested to know, in inches, how long to the edge of the passenger side mirror? The only thing holding me back is a concern whether the passenger mirror will clear my garage. Thanks.

Hi Bruce,

So far, no complaints. The visibility is quite good with them. They are quite a bit larger than the stock ones, as you noted, but not horribly so. Unfortunately, due to the never-ending winter here in Wisco, I haven't yet had my camper out on the highway, so can't comment on the visibility towing the camper yet. But I hope to have the opportunity in short order.

As for the distance they protrude from the truck, here's the numbers:

Mirrors in their normal position: 15-1/2"
Mirrors in their deployed position: 17-1/2"
Mirrors folded: 6-1/4"

I do have to fold up the mirrors on the driver's side before I go in the garage where I didn't have to before (I park on the left side of the garage). And I have to get out and fold up both mirrors before I go through the car wash.

Hope that's enough info to go on. Those particular mirrors have built-in turn signals and puddle lights, like you probably saw, but you can't see the turn signals on the mirrors when you're beside the truck like you can with the sport mirrors that came on the Outdoorsman (the turn signals don't flash toward the rear). Other than that, I'm pleased so far. I'll have more to report when I actually get on the road towing the camper.

Best regards,
Chris

Hey I was also looking to upgrade my regular mirrors for some tow mirrors. I was wondering how they have been holding up over the last couple months? Any vibrations at all? I would send you a pm but I don't have 25 posts so hopefully you see this!

They've been holding up fabulously. Definitely a high recommendation from me. They didn't withstand the impact of the wreck in July, unfortunately. But they're wonderful. Great buy from Rock Auto, too.

My only issue with this:

I have a black truck, with black step bars, and I have a bad hip/am on a cane (read, cant lift right leg very high). My non-tow mirrors have the LED's in the bottom that light up the step so I can see where I am stepping at night. They act as puddle lighting. The tow mirrors have the LED's on the upper corner, so they will not light up the side of the truck. So for now, when towing the boat, I use the strap-on style mirrors, but I HATE them because they vibrate so much they are damn near useless unless at parking lot speeds.

The tow mirrors I specified actually have the puddle lamps on them, just as the factory ones do. I made sure that I replaced the factory ones with like features. I'm not sure I'd have actually bought them if they didn't have those lights. Like you, I find them very useful.
