All of this V6 bashing is rather juvenile. I ordered a 2014 Bighorn with a V6 because I test drove it and was very impressed. It has the same HP as my 4.7 L V8 in my 2009 Dakota which gets 13 MPG city and has more tham ample power. I will only be towing a 1200 pound tear drop damper and 95% of my driving is to and from work on city streets so few me the V6 is ideal. I am willing to bet there are many perfectly happy V6 owners out there who don't post because of the bashing from the Hemi folks with inflated MPG claims. This engine won them truck of the year and has many favorable professional reviews. I'll wave at you all as I pass by the gas station!

Pentastar and proud of it !

My city average is sitting around 17 city because I can't keep my foot out of the V8 after a couple of cold ones after work.

On a 400 mile round trip, running 80mph with 5 people and loaded down with gear, I averaged 17.4 when the truck had 400 miles on it with 305's all terrain tires.
I avg 18.something in the city, to/form work, joyride romps, etc. Agree'd, it's hard to keep the foot out of the throttlebody. The V6 is peppy and fun to wind out.

Made a 560mi trip over the mountains in British Columbia (Everett, WA to Banff, AB via the Coq) fully loaded (seriously, every nook and cranny filled) with camping equipment, food, 5 flats of beer, wife, kid, luggage & dog. Roll-X installed & runnin on stock 17's w/ 3.55 rear.

I could have posted higher numbers that were inflated due to the mpg experienced going down the Rockies, but that wouldn't have been accurate. This was taken shortly after passing through Yoho. I do think that if I was making a run across the prairies, the numbers would be higher. Going up the Coq hurt and the Hemi would have handled the load better going up.

V6 - mixed city driving (but surburban driving with few lights) I avg 19+ mpg. I am light on the peddle and I coast into red lights. Hwy varies with speed. At 75 mph Hwy I am around 21 mpg range, but at 55-65 its closer to 25 mpg

Default v6

So far I am getting about 22-23mpg mixed driving average. I think the choice for the v6 has to be based on usage. If you pulling often or pull large loads, then the v6 is probably not the way to go. However, if you rarely pull anything and would like better gas mileage then the v6 is the way to go. It has plenty of power and you can pass a gas station or two. lol

Default v6 MPG

ZMW- Crew Cab 4 x 4. I have 2K on it now and think it is progressively getting a little better. I am in hopes that I can average 23-23.5MPG mixed driving (75% at 50-60 and 25% city).

Started a thread in the MPG zone. I'm sure the pentastar will rule, but am interested if the hemi/A8 could get close. Any of you 4x2 guys leave one of your trip gauges without resetting since new? Figured I'd ask here because this is the most active mpg thread for the pentastar. Not interested in posts about getting 25mpg going downhill for 10 miles, its all about the miles! Thanks guys http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=152756
