Default Lound knoking when i brake..HELP

Here the full story. I got a 2004 5.7L 4x4

I changes my brakes all arround hand brakes and all even brake oil. Also put back my mags and tires(20's)(winters on 17' rims). Changed engine and tranny oil and filters.

Since then I got a knoking sound when I brake. I took back the front rotors and had them replaced, thinking they were waved. And same thing, still got the knoking noise when I brake.

The harder I brake, the louder the noise.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Something on the caliper assembly is loose. It could be your caliper bushings (the bushing where it slides on the bracket), or your pad clips are worn out. That, or you've left something loose on reassembly. Check for any play in the bushings and pad clips, and re-check all fasteners.

Like RAM EM said, sounds like you left the shims off the end of the pads (corner of the pad)where it rides on the caliper. Should be around .010-.015 clearance, if any more the gap is too big and you get knocking. Some of the cheaper pads don't come with them so you would have to take them from the old set. If you don't have them they sell them separate in a caliper hardware kit. Easy test is go backwards and apply the brakes then go foward and apply them, if it knocks I would say you need to put them back in. Also check all your bolts for tightness. Good luck, keep us posted!
