Default Black Badges

So I have been looking through a ton of threads trying to decide to remove or paint the badges. I am very much a two color guy and am not a fan of body color, black tires, and chrome badges. I decided to do it the easy way and Plastdip the badges and think it looks awesome and will fit great with my Copperhead/Black combo. I just did the rear tonight but plan on doing the rest of the truck this week and powdercoating the wheels soon. Not sure if this counts as my official first mod being it's not permanent? Sorry for the crappy pics, too lazy to go grab my real camera.

Looks good. I did this on my Flame Red. I also plasti dipped my rims, grill, exhaust tips and antenna. Planning to do red and black emblems next.

Mark: How has it held up on your wheels? I'm tempted to do that until I powdercoat mine, but don't want to spend the time if it looks poor after a couple weeks. Did you do the inside of your wheels too or just the outside (hard to tell from the pics)? Love it on the exhaust tips, how has it held up to the heat?

Everything survived winter except for the rims. No issue with heat on exhaust tips.

I dipped my rims while still on the truck and Plasti dip started peeling off after couple of car washes. Eventually I had to take it off. I'm planning to do this again once it's a bit warmer. This time I will take the wheels off and dip both sides of the rims.

Looks great.... I have done pretty much everything you can do to the truck with Plasti Dip including the entire truck itself.... LOL

Here it is with all the badges, door handles, nerf bars, bumpers and wheels done

Then I decided to go all the way.....LOL

I was loving your thread that I saw earlier with the pics of the truck dipped. I’m shocked it only took 12 cans, I can’t seem to make the stuff go very far. I just did the Ram emblems and rest of the truck badges yesterday, in the wind because I was too lazy to pull it in the garage. Lol

Love your forum name by the way, I’m been an avid follower of that band since the beginning.

School me here please. You intentionally oversprayed onto the surrounding paint, correct?

When peeling the PD off the paint did it just separate from the PD on the badges due to creasing or did you have to cut/trim it? If cutting was required, what'd you use and how did you avoid scratching/nicking the OEM paint beneath?

Yes you are correct.... completely overspray the badge and let it dry completely. Then when dry you will be able to remove the excess unwanted PD from the outside of the badges. It will sepertate itself from the badge on its own. Good luck.
