Default Just Installed Backup Camera

So i decided to pull my rear seats out to start making plans for my rear seat mod for my new stereo. As long as the seats were out i decided to finally hook up the backup camera that i purchased a while ago. When i installed my head unit back in February i ran the video cable to the rear of the cab already. I purchased the Audiovox CMOS2 for $60.

Started by pulling back the carpet under the passenger side rear seat and drilling a hole through a plastic grommet in the floor and feeding the cable through. I put some flex loom over the wire and ran it through the frame to the rear of the truck. Glad i had a fish tape lying around the garage.

Spliced the power and ground wire into the trailer plug wiring and ran that to the grommet going through the bed of the truck. Hooked the positive to the reverse wire and the ground to the ground wire.

I drilled a hole through the tailgate handle in the factory location just big enough for the camera to fit in. This camera fits great and looks factory.

Zip tied the wires out of the way and finished up with the adjusting of the camera to make sure the picture was straight.

I love the Kenwood. The only thing that i don't like is that it's not compatible with the android phones, only the Iphone. I can still use my Pandora Radio with the bluetooth though which still works awesome. This head unit is super fast and has great user customability.

I just installed the same camera, how did you adjust the camera to make sure the picture was straight? Does your stereo go to camera mode automatically, if so how did you get it to do that, I have to switch modes before I backup, thanks for any help you could give

After i installed the camera i put the parking brake on and turned the truck's ignition to the on position so i could shift into reverse without actually starting the truck. I had the tailgate up with the access cover removed so i could stand in the bed of the truck and see the screen on my headunit through the rear window. Now i could turn the camera to the right position while tightening it in place. I have the PAC wiring harness for my head unit so it automatically knows when i shift into reverse. There was a setting on my headunit also to automatically pop up the screen when i shift into reverse.

This camera has a video output (RCA) and a positive and negative wire. Preferably the headunit would be made for a backup camera so that it would switch screens when shifted into reverse, but as long as it has a video input this camera should work.
