The best looking is a matter of personal taste. I looked at pictures by searching google to decide what I want.

You don't have many options with a 1500. Iron Cross is what I settled for. I don't like the way the cut their name into the bumpers. Otherwise they are OK. What I did notice quickly on the truck is the front mounts for the bumper are not meant to hold anything more than the stock bumper. There is no way I would ever try to winch anything with it as is.

The mount for the front bumper is a 14 or 16 gauge plate welded to the end of the frame and no other support except the tow hooks if you have them and the rear mount for them use rubber bushings in the mounts. The whole thing appears to be designed to easily collapse in the event of a front end collision. The tow hooks are even slotted at their rear mounts so the they can slide back if impacted. After I initially mounted the bumper it wiggled around like it was mounted on rubber bushings. If shook so much the fog lights were jumping all over the road.

Don't weld the bumper on, you will regret that. You do need to reenforce the frame side of the factory bumper mount though.

So... I look at it. I can prolly weld thicker plates onto the mounts? You have a pic of the frame?

I don't have any pictures. I think you would have to cut off the plate to make a big difference. I didn't want to cut up the factory mounts so I added a brace that is welded about 10" back on the vertical piece that the tow hook is mounted to. I is attached to two of the bolts that hold the bumper to the end of the frame.

The bumper comes with two large brackets that mount to the end of the frame and then the bumper bolts to it. The mounting holes are rather large and slotted. I did not like that either so once I had everything lined up where I wanted it, I removed the bumper from the end of the frame and welded the brackets to the bumper.

If you can weld or have access to someone that can, it can be made a lot better than if you don't.
