Like everyone else said, you gotta have the remote start. That being said It worked fine for me all winter not one problem. If I was in a store, in a city high rise, or in the middle of a lake fishing that was out of distance for my fob I used the uconnect. Not one issue and started every time.

All the messages are optional. I wouldn't want to use my phone to start my truck unless I was a fair distance away from my truck I would just use the key FOB.
No the alarm doesn't go off when I start my Ram. I was saying there is a button on the app to sound the alarm (along with start/stop engine and lock/unlock doors options). They advertise it for locating your vehicle in a parking lot. Problem is, is that it works by turning on the alarm. The only way to turn it off once enabled is by hitting the panic button on the key fob in which case you have to be fairly close to the vehicle to do it. I'm sure it will probably turn off after it times out as well but it was so loud in my garage I wasn't willing to let it go to find out.

Mine starts fairly quick on average...about 1-2 mins from the time I sent the command through my app till my truck starts. If my truck has been sitting for quite a while, it has taken around 5-10mins. It is a nice option, since my key FOB will not reach my truck from where I work and if it's below 39*F outside it will turn on the heated seats and steering wheel as well (if equipped). I love having the app.

I did try out the option to blow the horn as well in my driveway and probably will never use that option (maybe an amusement parking lot or concert lot). It's just like hitting the panic button on your key FOB.
