Default First Major Problem

2012 Ram quad cab express.. When coming home from a weekend getaway, I heard a loud pop and lost the whole stereo and bluetooth..

It started crackling and would come back in for a couple of seconds at a time.. I took it back to the dealer and they had no idea what had happened.. they upgraded the software and It came back, then they decided that It was just better to replace the head unit..

Im still trying to figure out what caused this..

No use trying to figure out what happened when the dealer replaced the radio. $hit happens with electronics. Now, if it continues to happen every year then I would be concerned.

Also, the fact that you categorized a radio issue as a major problem really says something about the Ram .

I agree. Don't waste your energy if your dealer has already fixed the problem for you Kai. Electronics do and will fail eventually. If it happens again, then I would suggest taking an ohmmeter and looking for a short somewhere in the radio/bluetooth wiring or wiring harness. And of course, that would just be the start.

Been waiting two weeks waiting on my replacement. AM radio is getting old... I blame it all on the fact the radio says "Sirius" on it.

Ground wire at one of the speakers may have came loose. Had a similiar problem on a previous Jeep and that was the cause. It was actually scary how loud the popping noise was through the speakers.
