Smile SLT Crew Cab with V6 not available with 6'4" bed

Very frustrated. I have driven many trucks and settled in on ordering a 2014 fully loaded SLT Crew Cab with 6'4" bed only to find out that the 6'4" bed is offered on the Quad cab only. So frustrated at this point, just can't seem to get the configuaration that I want. They advertise the Pentastar heavily and it got them truck of the year but it is available in such limited configurations and not available at all in the Laramie line. Arghhhh Thanks for listening.

Hey bro, I feel your pain. I went thru exactly the same thing earlier this year. I really wanted the V6 but could not get it in the truck I wanted. I finally decided to get the hemi with the 8 speed transmission as the mpg difference was only 2 for city and highway. For the 2 mpg and the hemi I could order the configuration that I wanted. I am very happy with my decision.

Thanks I'm pretty mcuh resigned to the hemi. I do 90% city driving and get 13.6mpg in my Dakota. I was looking forward to some better numbers and was impressed with the V6. Doesn't make sense to me that it's so limited. No 6'4" on the crew cab ? That's the truck that needs the extra length on the bed? But hey, I'll get that amazing looking dual exhaust ! What gear ratio dd you go with and what kind of mileage are you getting in the city?

I choose the 3.55 rear. I have about 1400 miles on the truck and I'm getting about 15 1/2 to 16 in stop and go driving and about 20 1/2 in highway driving. Both of which are inline with the advertised MPG. I understand that the 3.21 gets about 1/2 mpg better. If the diesel had been available I might have gone that route but I needed a new truck now. As mentioned I'm very happy. It is an awesome truck. Highly recommend it!

I should say off the bat "i am Old" and have a light foot. Hence, getting 17.5-18 mpg around town for 1500 miles. I noticed a difference in mpg when I didn't watch the eco gauge in the evic and mpg went down to 14.5-15
then back up.Don't need to get there in a hurry.
