Default Is this a Warranty Item

I carried a large amount of dirt and stone this past weekend working on the yard. At the end of the day I hosed out the bed. I have the factory spray in liner. As I was washing off the tailgate I got done and went to close it and the tailgate had a lot of water inside of it. Let it down and hosed it off some more and closed it same thing.

After looking it over there is a panel on the inside of the tailgate basically looks like an access panel and it appears there is a small gap I guess from the spray liner allowing leaks.

Also once I closed the tailgate you could see where the water was coming out just below the tailgate "cap".

My concern is the camera on the inside of the tailgate getting water on the connections.

Is this a fit and finish issue that warranty can address or just one of those little things you either live with or fix on your own?

I'm not sure how the factory does it but the access panel may be removed when they spray the bed? That way if there is an internal tailgate issue, they can still get in there. If they sprayed over it, you'd have to cut the bedliner to get inside. Anyway if they spray it removed, there may just be a little bedliner material holding the panel up away from the tailgate. The panel is held on by a few torx bolts. Depends on what you are comfortable with doing. If it looks as though the panel will lift out and the torx bolt heads are clean, I'd do it myself. If not or you are unsure, let the dealer handle it. I always lean to the side of the less trips to the dealer, the less chances they have of screwing something up though.

The connections in the gate are watertight, same as under the vehicle.

jeepguy is on a distinguished road

The tailgate has huge holes at the bottom to allow water to drain out. Not really a warranty item.
