It is interesting that there are two Ford dealers and one Chevy closer to my neighborhood but yet there are more Rams parked in the driveways. Also kind of funny that I take the time to notice.

If you Google sales numbers you will find info from various sites and sources but most all of them, whether they are monthly or annual numbers, show the same trend. Ram sells about half as many units as Ford on average and maybe slightly more than half of Chevrolet/GMC. So Ford probably isn't freaking out just yet. I do agree that Ram has really stepped it up and made a good showing particularly in the past couple of years. It's just going to take some time to make up for 40 years of history.

I'm not sure Ford is concerned but you can bet they are paying attention. Trucks make big bucks for all of the big three. From what I've read Ford was caught off guard by the introduction of the 3.0 diesel for '14. To keep competitive in MPG wars they are going with aluminum to reduce weight and thus increase MPG. However, aluminum is expensive as compared to steel so I would not be surprised to see a diesel from Ford (and maybe GM) in the next several years.

There is like 2 pckups in my neighborhood. Mine, obviously, and the 1000hp Cummins down the street. It is a lowered 3500, you can hear the turbo spooling from at least a mile away lol.

Ram will catch Ford prior to GM.

Let's call a spade, a spade here.

Annually - and collectively - General Motors [Silverado, Canyon, Escalade, Sierra, Avalanch, Colorado] sells more trucks than Ford.

Ford have been riding the "Best Selling Truck" train for almost 32 years now..... and the gullible public believe it.

Belows link for 2011 and 2012 total Full-Size Pickup Sales shows GM outsells Ford.

When I first started looking at buying a truck (around last July), I started to count the number of Ford/Chevy/GM/Ram trucks I saw. The first day home from work was ~10 ford, ~8 Chevy, ~3 Ram, and 1 GM. Now when I count trucks usually it's even Ford/Chevy/Ram and sometimes a GM or 2.

I don't count any other brands as being trucks.

I dunno man. For one, I guess technically all of those vehicles do count towards overall truck sales numbers but my line of thinking is F150 vs. Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra. Within those trucks alone, it's close between the F150 and Chevy twins but the F150 still has a solid lead and has for years. I personally think Ford is steamrolling along right now and is going to be harder to catch than ever but that's just my opinion.

Also, I still don't see where GM is outselling Ford. The total on all of those GM trucks together for 2012 is still only roughly 647K units compared to 645K units for the F150 alone. Add in the Ranger and Ford truck sales are up to 664K units. So you've essentially got one brand selling two models and outselling three brands selling a total of six models.

You can stand in my back yard and see 7 Rams (6 Gen 4s and 1 Gen 2) and 1 older (early 2000s) Chevy and zero Fords.
