Default Deleted my 2010 RAM CTD

Yesterday I installed my delete kit consisting of a RaceMe, Sinister EGR Delete, and a Flo Pro down pipe. Just prior to that I took my truck to the dealer and had the ECM and all modules updated to latest software versions. I also updated my RaceMe to the latest software version.

Since I don't want to draw any undue attention and don't like noise I wanted to have a muffler to compensate for the decibel increase caused by the removal of the cat, NOX filter, and DPF. I read numerous threads and online reviews and ordered a Donaldson 51" muffler (M090544).

First step was to program my truck; I used SW 1 or Economy setting. The whole process took about ten minutes because the tuner had to "prepare" the ECM prior to installing the new tune. I guess it took a little bit longer because it was the first time I connected it to my truck.

I did the delete job by myself and the exhaust system was a little bit of a challenge since I didn't want to destroy any of the OEM components (never know if you need them later on). The Sinister instructions tell you to remove the EGR Bypass (where the front block off plate goes) before removing the EGR cooler.........there was no way to get to the inner mounting nut. I removed the cooler and cast bracket first which allowed me access to that nut. After that everything else was straight forward. I also changed the engine oil/filter....might as well get rid of all the soot inside the engine.

The muffler is huge but it fits (I had to cut off two hanger brackets from the frame...red arrows in the picture). The muffler is a straight through design with the exception of a tapered and perforated cone which makes it directional. Pictures show the inside of the muffler and clearance once installed. The whole job took me about seven hours to complete.

I took my truck for a 30 mile test drive when I was done.

The Verdict:

The exhaust is very quiet, no drone whatsoever, maybe a tad bit deeper exhaust note. I am very pleased with that but I understand that this is not everybody's flavor!

No CEL or any other hick ups. On my test drive and on the way home the EVIC showed 21.6 MPG which is an increase of almost 5 MPGs. I will hand calculate after my next fill up and using a whole tank.

On a side note I like to say Thank You to Franz from RaceMe for his prompt replies to my emails when I had a question....great customer service!

Good stuff man! And good write up! You're going to love the truck now that it's deleted. It's a whole new beast. Especially if you start playing with some higher power levels.

The Sinister instructions definitely were a little off. But once you get going it's pretty straight forward on how you actually have to do it to get everything off. Sounds like you figured it all out no problem.

The EVIC will be way off now that you're tuned a deleted. You can't trust it at all. Mine said about the same when I first deleted. In reality I was getting much lower. Definitely hand calculate to find out what you're actually getting. I'm interested to see the numbers.

Congrats on getting the deletes done! How sooted was the EGR and DPF when you removed them.

My EGR is still on but my DPF still drops cakes of soot when I move it around the shed... and it was only on for 5500 miles

The DPF was actually pretty clean. My truck is a 2010 with 86K miles, almost all highway which makes all the difference in the world. There was a little soot falling out the EGR valve when I took it off.
