Default 2013's: Outdoorsman V6 3.55 what size 17" tire; suggestions?

The thread I posted in the 2013 forum was moved to here but I am interested in 2013 Outdoorsman owners or knowledge so I don't understand why it was moved. So I am re-posting with the "2013" in the topic.

I just purchased this truck with these tires; picking it up next week: TXNP LT265/70R17E OWL On/Off Road Tires on 17/7 aluminum rims.

The outdoorsman has a raised ride height (XZNP Raised Ride Height) whatever this means. Anyone know?

I like Goodyear Duratracs or 2nd choice Nitto Terre Grapplers and want to replace the tires.

What size would you go with? I like the look of slightly aggressive tires. I did purchase a v6 for better mileage but I also like to not get stuck in the pastures or on the side of the road plus occasional winter driving. But really don't "4-wheel" much anymore and will do mainly road driving. I got the outdoorsman trim only due to the options it had with the v6.

Duratrac are available in: 285 70 17 D or 265 70 17 E
I have no idea if the posted legal payload is based on it having "E" rated tires but am somewhat reluctant to put the "D" on due to possible payload/legal issues although I like the added height IF they will not rub - not that I am going to be maxing out the payload often (Seldom)

Terre Grappler IS available 285 70 17 E

I have run both the terre grappler and the duratrac and have seen no fuel mileage difference on another vehicle. The terre grappler appears to have a bit of a softer ride while the duratrac appear to be better in mud/snow.

One other option I have is to keep some existing 18" 275 70 18 Terre Grapplers and purchase wheels and sell the tires/wheels that come on the truck. This would also mean purchasing some new 18 cheapo tires before I trade.

Right now I am leaning on just trading for the Terre Grapplers 285 70 17 E for a bit taller tire although I can't find any info on tire rub with the outdoorsman and larger tire.

I wouldn't go any bigger.

I have a 2012 2500 and it came with 245/70/17 and I went up two sizes to 285/70/17 Michelin LTX A/T2s.

I had to put a 2" front leveling kit on it so the tires wouldn't rub.

And with the increased tires size and front lift I lost 2 miles to the gallon.

Just something to keep in mind if you bought the six cylinder for better gas mileage.

I also had to get the computer re-programed at the delaer for the new tire size to change the transmission shift points.

The Power Wagon does come with 285s so not out of the ordinary.

I just got my 2013 Outdoorsman V6/8speed/3.55 and I think the stock tires are more than aggressive for normal/trail driving. You should give them a try first before replacing them.

The problem I have in trying them out is that I can get a decent trade when I drive from the lot but not so once I really use them. I have had the Duratracs before and I loved them.

The tires are Goodyear Wrangler Pro Grade Silent Armor LT-265-70-R17 M&S.

I just picked up the truck on Monday so I have less than 100 miles on it.

My build sheet: http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=139676

I think I got a good deal 8,500+ off the MSRP of 43,435 and 2,000 trade so total out the door was $35,082

Just finished installing:
WeatherTech Floor Mats (F&R)
WeatherTech Mud Flaps (F&R)
WeatherTech Window Rain Guards (F&R)
AVS Bugflector II
Dee Zee Heavyweight Truck Bed Mat
LRV Protecta Tailgate Mat
IPCW LED Tailgate Light Bar
Dee Zee Tailgate Assist
Cabin air filter
