Default 2013 1500 ok to 4x4

After owning my 2013 few week I am kinda concerned about taking it on rough diffcult roads. My 2009 went everywhere and it was built much stronger

Has anyone actually drove one of these on rocky harder roads. The frame, front end and suspension look very weak. I think if I did the things i did in my 2009 it would completly destroy the 2013

I am not a wild 4x4 but I do like to drive in off road on occasion. Looking for anyone who has drive a older dodge then drive the new models?

What makes you think your 2009 was much stronger than the 2013? It's essentially the same frame and suspension set up (minor changes of course). Even components do look a little smaller or they are probably just as strong if not stronger being made out of better materials. You shouldn't have any problems.

sorry opps typo 2000 vs 2013 dont know about 2009
but 2013 fame and components are not much beefer than a passenger car. I dont anymore but slamed the 2000 into large rocks and didn't even screw up the front end alignment. I still will hit a large chuckhole i didn't slow up in time with a 800 lbs load. I heard rumor that the frame will twist very easily. just looking to see if anyone has 4x4'ed with this generation

Candy08 Tore his 2012 up with minor problems. All the problems he had was from extreme abuse.

I have taken my 2012 offroad with 37" Tires and no issues, nothing intense just to the hunting lease. But I have had zero issues.

You do realize that there is no such thing as a passenger car with a frame anymore right? Hasnt been for a long time either. They are all unibody. Anyone filling your head with that stuff is most likely jealous of your new truck, or a fanboy of another brand. Look around this site, plenty of guys off roading with these 4th gen Rams.

I don't run into rocks, trees nor do I try to jump but my truck is used off road (rough uneven trails and mud) and has had zero issues because of it...Very capable truck IMO

I bought mine specifically to get me to the backcountry. What issues would there be?

From what I have read the new 2013 frame is supposed to be the lightest and strongest yet. bigger doesn't mean stronger now a days.

I've never seen a 2000 truck that hasn't been rusted to hell. I rarely have ever even seen a truck older than 2006 that didn't have the box rusted out.

I promise you, without question, that the 2013 will be many times stronger than the 2000.

The components may look smaller, but they are using more and more lightweight materials, smaller, lighter, stronger.

If you're concerned, I would invest in some skid plates, and a suspension lift.

I have taken mine down a few trails and to the beach with no issues other than a few scratches. Not hard core wheeling but a good average test to me for a mostly stock truck with just a level kit and tires. After I lift it I see no reason not to take it anywhere it seems as solid as any other normal truck I have driven.
