Question Yet another gear question..

Ok, so I've read as many threads as possible about what gears I should get, but I still haven't really found anything for my situation. I understand that 4.10 gears will get everything around stock with 35" tires and is best for interstate driving, but will it really be that big of a difference for me? I have 3.92 gears right now, and I drive 400 - 500 interstate miles 2 - 4 times a month for work. No one in the post I have read drive drive that much. I drive from Little Rock to through Oklahoma City, so a majority of those mile are through hilly/mountainous areas which bogs my truck down causing it to drop to a lower gear causing the rpms to jump way up and killing any gas mileage I have. Would 4.56 gears be better at keeping my truck from bogging down like that? I'm not too terribly worried about gas mileage because I tend to drive kinda fast (5-10 mph over). I just hate hearing the truck dropping gears and the rpms jumping up.

If you have 3.92's it's not worth upgrading to only 4.10's IMO. If you're going to do it go straight to the 4.56's. That will definitely help you out a lot in the hills and in regular city driving as well.

That's another reason I was asking about the 4.56's. I just couldn't justify spending the money for such a little jump in gears, but I wasn't sure how the 4.56's would be on the interstate with me doing 80 lol

Thats what I'm curious about. How do 4.56 gears perform on the highway? Right now (stock) I'm averaging about 18 mpg +/-. I'm going to do a 6" lift with 35s and a tuner but ultimately I'd like to return the driveability to stockish. On the Highway I run about 1800 rpm @ 65-70 mph. How would the new gears change that?

I run about 2200 rpms cruising the hwy on 38s and 4.56. With a tuner and all my other crap I was getting an easy 13mpg avg drivin like an *******. Now back to stock with just gears, a k&n in the stock airbox and a custom dual exhaust I'm averaging 11mpg.
