Since this video shows an 8-speed compared to a 4-speed, what's this got to do with anything about the 6 v 8?

Im no Einstein but that could possibly mean that the 8 speed will beat the 6 speed by ONLY a half a car length

There was a guy that posted a video of the v6 with 8 speed. It was surprisingly quick. It was also a base "work" truck, so it was fairly light comparatively. The lower and tighter gears of the 8 speed surely help acceleration. Still, the "old" "6 speed" is a good trans...

That Roman Mica guy doesn't know how to drive (launch) when it comes to doing acceleration runs.
I wouldn't base anything off him when it comes to acceleration wise.
Though I agree the 6 speed is a good tranny, it's smooth and reliable, it can't possibly be
where the 8 speed auto is. The 8 speed is used in uber-luxury cars and vehicles with even more power.
MPG wise, though the axle ratio and final gear ratio may be the same, clearly it must get better gas mileage. I know the EPA's testing procedures are about 2-3 decades old but in their testing they got 2 mpg better on highway, and that was with the exact same procedures they used when they tested the 6 speed too.

While I agree the 8-speed is a much more advanced transmission; I do have to disagree on you claim that the mpg highway is better. They managed to get 2mpg better for various reasons i.e. grill shutters, lowering air suspension, electronic power steering, etc. I do have to say there is less parasitic loss in the transmission so that will help a little too.

Few things here: The 65rfe _IS_ a 6-speed. But, unless in shift mode it doesn't use gears 2-3 together. 3rd is Really more of a "highway passing" gear, which you'll use a lot of if you're towing -- or -- if you hit the go pad while merging. Which is a really nice feature when paired on the HEMI, since it lets you stay in the torque band of the engine when you need it the most.

As far as the 6 vs 8-speed is concerned, much of it also has to do with rear axle ratios too. I drove a 6 w/ 4.10's and that thing was a rocket. I also drove an 8 with 3.55's and it really felt on par with a 6 w/ 3.92's.

Id have to look into the EPA's testing procedure.
I'm not sure if they use loaded up vehicles for MPG tests.
Their tests are clearly flawed as they don't distinguish between the base vehicles and loaded up ones, nor do they distinguish between gear ratios.

Clearly, for example a 2013 Hemi Laramie Crew Cab with 8 speed auto all the options and 3.92 gears will not get as good of gas mileage as a
2013 Hemi SLT Quad Cab with 8 speed auto, no options and 3.21 gears.
But look on the window sticker and they will both say the same.

You are correct that their will be some improvements because of the slightly better aerodynamics of the 2013, as well as grill shutters and air suspension.
However, your thinking is also flawed, since the 2013 with 6 speed auto gets the air suspension, better aerodynamics, electric power steering too yet the 2013 MPG ratings are the exact same as the 2012's.

Also, the changes would be tiny. The grill shutters and slightly more aerodynamic 2013 will not be enough to get 2 mpg highway improvement.

If ANYTHING, it may be .75 to 1 mpg.

Combine them with the more efficient 8 speed auto and that's probably why it gets 2 mpg better.
It also gets 1 mpg better in the city and that would be fully attributable to the 8 speed autos better gearing, because at that point, aerodynamics doesn't do much when puttering around at city speeds.
